Assisted by the civil society in Bengaluru, Think India initially started as a discussion group with students all over the South India joining the idea to promote nationalistic fervour and cause for the society. Think India organised six different workshops in Bangalore, Coimbetore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mysore and Mangalore as precursors of the first Think India Convention. This convention was held at the Art of Living Ashram in Bengaluru on 11–13 January 2007. The event saw participation from all national institutes and major professional colleges of the South India. Various initiatives started in late 2009 to extend the work area of Think India from the southern part of the country to Pan India scale. On 23 May 2010, a round table conference was organised where students from various states had come, with students of premier institutes brainstorming upon the future course action, concluded with giving a national status to Think India. And the first team under the guidance of a civil activist, Nagaraj Reddy was organised.〔(Think India : The Conference )〕
